If the typewriter has a colour selector, then I’d prefer to use a two-tone ribbon. A few of my machines have no colour switch. The Remette and the Groma Kolibri, for example. Black ribbons only for those two. But if I had my way, then a black and red ribbon would be on all of my typewriters.
Because yep, it looks cool.
Yes I did. Otherwise that selection lever would have been ‘non-functional’, can’t have that 🙂
And my eldest thinks typing in red is so much better than plain black of course…
Yep I do the same thing, except in cases – like the FP – where the vibrator doesn’t position properly. I have to use the red setting or it cuts off the tops of letters.

I try to put a black and red ribbon on any typewriter that has bicolor capacity. Because it’s cool! I also sometimes use red for emphasis.

notagain, that can be adjusted, although I don’t remember how on the FP. Sometimes the same problem is caused by using a ribbon that’s too narrow.
Yeah, I think bicolor ribbons look nice, which is why I put them in certain machines, but then I sometimes do use the red for emphasis.
