Since some of you expressed interest in seeing some of my art, here’s a color sketch I did last night. This took less than ten minutes, but then there’s not much to see there.
You mean to tell me that you sat down and drew what you have presented here in UNDER 10 MINUTES?! Good sir, my hat is now tipped in your general direction. Thank you so much for sharing.
It’s only a sky, clouds and hills. There’s really not much there. Had I included buildings, or a crowd of people, or something that required detail, then it would had taken me much, much longer. I think there may appear to be more there than is actually involved. Even the birds and cow are just little strokes of undefined color.
The funny thing is, had I sat down with a well-defined plan to do this, it would have also taken me longer, because I would have tried to refine it, and I probably would’ve ruined the softness of it. But because I was just doing a quick color sketch, I left it loose, which can sometimes have a nicer effect than making a painting tight and clean.
In any case, I do appreciate all the kind words from everyone.
You wish you could write like me, but I wish I could draw like you. Beautiful sketch. Reminds me of the opening establishing shots from the old Warner Bros. cartoons. And I don’t mean that as an insult.
I really like the feel of this! 🙂 Maybe because it’s so green… (and I love green!) 😀 Very lovely!
Wow — less than ten minutes? The colors are perfect. I love the clouds.

Great sketch, babe. See, I told you you’re the best!
You really don’t think it’s a big deal? That’s because you are a master illusionist!
And I can juggle cats, too.
I have a possible commission for you. Drop me a line at polt at xavier dot edu.
